Decided to jump in and make myself a scenester’s bike. Purchased a crappy road frame on craigslist for a few bucks that has a short horizonal dropout, rusted chain and usable crank+pedals. Hope to paint and rebuild this bike as a pre-winter project to make myself a fixie.
Todo:
- Remove pedals and crank from frame, cut off all wires, remove derailleur, break chain, separate fork from frame
- Strip paint, and re-paint frame and fork in pink
- Convert existing crank to a single gear 50t crank
- Purchase flip-flop wheelset, with a 16t gear hub and left handed lockring
- Purchase seat post + seat, or scavenge from existing bike
- Get replacement pedals with toe clips for back braking
- Remove rust from old handlebars and tape pink
